Madhya Pradesh Voter List Update – Declaration Form Mandatory for New Entries

Due to the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Madhya Pradesh, currently it is not possible to add, remove, or correct any name in the voter list. The process will resume from 9 December. Meanwhile, the Election Commission has introduced a new rule: submitting a declaration form is mandatory to add a new name or make any correction in the voter list. This format is being circulated to all districts.

Declaration Form Requirement

According to Gwalior's Deputy District Election Officer Anil Banwaria, anyone filling Form-6 (for adding a new name) or Form-8 (for name correction or address transfer) must attach this declaration form. The form requires the applicant to provide details of their parents and relatives along with their respective assembly constituency, part number, and serial number. It must also include the signature of the concerned BLO to ensure verification and strengthen field verification.

Voter List Draft and Corrections

The draft of the voter list will be published on 9 December. Citizens can visit polling stations to check their entries, and if a name is missing, corrections can be made by submitting the relevant forms on-site.

New Voter Registration via BLO

• New voters can register through the BLO under the SIR process.
• The BLO will visit the voter's home at least three times.
• Action will also be taken against deceased, displaced, or multiple-registered voters.

Important Notes

The Election Commission clarified that having a voter card does not guarantee inclusion in the voter list. Every voter must fill in their information in the form provided by the BLO. Providing incorrect information may lead to a one-year jail term, a fine, or both.

For families whose members were already included in the last SIR voter list, they can submit the same details in the form without providing any additional documents.
