Madhya Pradesh High Court Appoints 11 New Judges
The Madhya Pradesh High Court is set to appoint 11 new judges, as per a recommendation by the Supreme Court. The Government of India has issued the official notification regarding the appointments. This will be the first time that 44 out of the 53 sanctioned posts will be filled in the High Court.
Among the new appointments, Himanshu Joshi and Anand Singh Beharawat from Indore have been elevated to the position of High Court Judges. The swearing-in ceremony will take place once the warrants are issued by the President's office.
The Indore Bench may receive two to three additional judges. Apart from Joshi and Beharawat, several other advocates have been appointed, including Puspendra Yadav, Ajay Kumar Nirankari, and Jay Kumar Pillai.
Additionally, District & Sessions Judges Ram Kumar Choubey and Rajesh Kumar Gupta have been appointed as High Court Judges. Alok Awasthi, Reshchandra Singh Bisen, Bhagwati Prasad Sharma, and Pradeep Mittal have been made Additional Judges of the High Court.
Previously, the Madhya Pradesh High Court had 40 judges in 2016 and 2023. The number first reached 40 in 2016, with the appointment of 18 new judges, and again in 2023 when seven new judges were sworn in on November 6th.
