Madhya Pradesh Declares 2026 as Agriculture Year
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced several initiatives for Panchayats at the Sarpanch Maha Sammelan, ensuring development reaches every village. Each Panchayat will receive ₹50,000, and Sarpanches are now empowered to undertake projects up to ₹25 lakh.
The CM emphasized, “In the three-tier Panchayat system, a Sarpanch holds powers that even MPs and MLAs do not have. They can take their Panchayats to new heights. Their confidence drives the development of the state.” A conference for Panchayat representatives will be held in Bhopal from 24th to 26th November.
During the event at Jamboree Maidan on 11th November, CM Yadav handed over ₹50,000 each to Panchayat representatives for development projects. The state government has approved 2472 Atal Panchayat Bhavans, 1037 community halls, 106 Janpad Panchayat buildings, and 5 Zila Panchayat buildings. The district administration will assist Sarpanches in building Shantidham facilities.
The CM declared 2026 as the Agriculture Year and highlighted initiatives for employment-based industries, including agriculture and food-grain processing units. Panchayats will support establishing small-scale, cottage, and employment-oriented industries. Vegetable and other crop processing units are being opened, and youth are being trained in horticulture and food processing. The goal is to ensure farmers get fair prices for their crops.
CM Yadav also instructed Panchayat representatives to document sites associated with Lord Shri Ram and integrate them into the Shri Ram Van Gaman Path. Similarly, sites related to Lord Krishna will be developed as religious destinations. Panchayats are encouraged to continue traditional work while prioritizing education, health, employment, and industry development. Villages will also promote dairy and animal husbandry to make Madhya Pradesh a leading milk-producing state.
The CM reiterated that Panchayats can execute projects up to ₹25 lakh. Any negligence by secretaries or assistant secretaries in implementing government schemes will lead to immediate action. Panchayat representatives were handed grants of ₹50,000 each for their development projects.
