Madhya Pradesh Becomes India's No.1 State in Tomato Production
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced that farmers in Madhya Pradesh engaged in vegetable cultivation are greatly benefiting from the government’s incentive schemes. The state’s emphasis on cash crop production has yielded remarkable results, making Madhya Pradesh the number one state in India for tomato production.
Dr. Yadav explained that under the Prime Minister’s Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme, small-scale industries based on tomato crops are being actively encouraged and supported across the state. This has led to the establishment of several micro-enterprises that add value to tomato-based products.
The Chief Minister also highlighted that the state government provides up to 50% subsidy on tomato seeds, which has given significant support to farmers. This subsidy enables cultivators to reduce input costs and expand production capacity. Taking advantage of these government schemes, farmers in Madhya Pradesh are moving toward self-reliance and prosperity.
