M. Selvendran to be Promoted to Chief Secretary; Multiple IAS and SAS Officers Get Promotions
In the capital Bhopal, Collector Kaushalendra Vikram Singh along with 4 other IAS officers will be promoted to secretary positions. These include Ujjain Divisional Commissioner Ashish Singh, Gwalior Collector Ruchika Chauhan, and one other IAS officer. In addition, around 50 IAS officers will also be promoted. Promotions will be from Additional Secretary to Secretary, Secretary to Chief Secretary, and Chief Secretary to Additional Chief Secretary.
Meanwhile, 50 to 60 officers from the State Administrative Service (SAS) will also be promoted, moving from Deputy Collector to Joint Collector, and from Joint Collector to Additional Collector, along with an increase in their grade pay. Preparations at the government level have already begun and will be completed by November-December. Promotion orders will be effective from January 1.
Deputy Collectors getting promotions will have their grade pay increased from 5400 to 6600 when promoted to Joint Collector. Similarly, Joint Collectors promoted to Additional Collector will have grade pay increased from 6600 to 7600, and eligible Joint Collectors will have their grade pay increased from 7600 to 8700 without changes to their designation.
Statewide SIR (Systematic Inspection and Review) has begun, involving many IAS and SAS officers who hold positions from Collector to SDM. Officers due for promotion and involved in SIR work will continue in their current roles until the end of February, to ensure completion of voter list-related work.
The wait for employee promotions is increasing. Since the matter has reached the High Court from the Supreme Court, the government has already submitted its response. Employee organizations claim that if authorities had properly involved all organization heads and employees while drafting the new promotion rules, the matter might not have reached the court. Despite multiple government efforts, the promotion policy was challenged in court. Many employees feel they should have received the benefits, as millions retired without promotions.
