• At the Republic Day Parade, CRPF Assistant Commandant Simran Bala became the first woman officer to lead a contingent of 147 male personnel. This marked a historic first in the history of the CRPF. Earlier, in 2019, Lieutenant Bhavana Kasturi led an all-male Army Service Corps contingent, and in 2020, Captain Tania Shergill became the first woman parade adjutant to lead an all-male contingent on Army Day.
• President Droupadi Murmu conferred gallantry and distinguished service awards on 70 personnel from the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla was awarded the Ashok Chakra. He is the first Indian to travel to the International Space Station (ISS).
• England all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt scored the first-ever century in the Women’s Premier League (WPL). Playing for Mumbai Indians against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, she scored an unbeaten 100 runs off 57 balls.
• The major India–European Union trade deal is being described as the “Mother of All Deals”. Under this agreement, India will significantly reduce import duties on several EU products. Taxes on European cars will be cut from 110% to 10%, while import duty on wine will be reduced from 150% to 20%.
