  • CDS General Anil Chauhan’s Tenure Extended: The government has extended the tenure of 64-year-old Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan by 8 months till 30 May 2026. He has been serving as CDS since September 2022 and is also the Secretary of the Department of Military Affairs. The age limit for CDS is 65, but the government can extend the term.
  • Launch of GST Appellate Tribunal: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman launched the GST Appellate Tribunal to ensure fast and fair resolution of tax disputes. The headquarters will be in Delhi, with 31 state benches in 45 locations across India. Each bench will consist of 2 judicial and 2 technical members.
  • Agni-Prime Missile Test from Rail-Based Launcher: India has successfully tested the Agni-Prime missile for the first time using a rail-based mobile launcher. The missile has a range of up to 2,000 km. The launcher can move anywhere on the railway network and allows covert and rapid deployment.
  • Greenfield Highway Approved in Bihar: Approval granted for the NH-139W greenfield highway in Bihar. This will be a 79 km long, 4-lane highway between Sahebganj–Areraj–Bettiah. It will be built under the Hybrid Annuity Model and improve connectivity to the India-Nepal border.
  • India’s First AI-Based Crowd Control Center at TTD: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has launched India’s first AI-based control center. It will predict crowd movement, manage queues, and enhance security. Features include 3D maps, cameras, and a live dashboard.
  • Maharajas’ Express Ready for President’s Visit: The luxurious Maharajas' Express train is prepared for President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to Vrindavan and Mathura. The train has 23 coaches, including 14 guest carriages, with a total capacity of 84 passengers.
  • PM Street Vendor's Atmanirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi): Launched in June 2020 by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, this scheme supports street vendors, small shopkeepers, and hawkers. The scheme offers collateral-free loans. Recently, it was integrated with digital payment and UPI-linked credit cards. The first loan is ₹10,000 repayable in one year, followed by ₹20,000 and then ₹50,000 upon repayment.
