Koneru Humpy Wins FIDE Women's Grand Prix 2024–25

Indian Grandmaster Koneru Humpy has clinched the title at the FIDE Women’s Grand Prix 2024–25 (Pune leg), defeating China’s Zhu Jiner based on a superior tie-break score. Both players ended with seven points each, but Humpy's stronger tie-break performance secured her the win.

This victory follows Humpy's triumph in the Women’s World Rapid Chess Championship held in New York in December last year, marking her return to top form after five years.

In the ninth and final round of the Grand Prix, Humpy defeated Bulgaria's Nurgyul Salimova to reach the top score. FIDE posted on X (formerly Twitter), “Koneru Humpy and Zhu Jiner finished with equal points in the FIDE Women’s Grand Prix, but Humpy clinched the title on tie-breaks.”
