Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital Achieves JCI Sustainability Certificate
Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute, located in Mumbai, has been awarded the prestigious Joint Commission International (JCI) certification for its commitment to sustainability in healthcare. This recognition, in partnership with the International Hospital Federation's Geneva Sustainability Centre, honors the hospital's efforts in meeting the rigorous standards of the Healthcare Sustainability Program. With this achievement, Kokilaben Hospital has become the first hospital in India and the fifth globally to meet these demanding sustainability benchmarks.
This certification reflects the hospital's commitment to environmental-friendly healthcare services and sustainability initiatives. The JCI-GSC Program specifically recognizes hospitals that incorporate environmental risk management at the board level. Dr. Santosh Shetty, CEO and Executive Director of Kokilaben Hospital, emphasized that this certification underscores the belief that sustainability leads to both better clinical outcomes and stronger operational performance.
As part of its long-term vision, the hospital has developed a 2030 Sustainability Roadmap that focuses on energy efficiency, water management, use of low-emission materials, and climate-resilient infrastructure. These investments are designed to reduce long-term cost pressures, improve patient safety, and strengthen business continuity in a city facing increasing climate instability.
