Karnataka Election Survey: 91% People Believe 2024 Elections Will Be Fair
A survey conducted by the Karnataka Election Commission revealed that 91% of people believe that the 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be free and fair. This survey contradicts the allegations made by the Congress party regarding vote rigging. The survey was conducted by the Karnataka Department of Planning and Statistics, and it shows that the people of Karnataka have confidence in the election process.
The survey findings were released by the Karnataka Monitoring and Evaluation Authority on January 1, 2026. According to the survey, 91.31% of respondents stated that the elections in India are fair and transparent, and 84% of people expressed confidence in the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
However, Congress has raised concerns about the sample size of only 5100 people and has questioned the credibility of the NGO (GRAM) that conducted the survey. Congress has also accused the survey’s lead, R. Bala Subramanyam, of having close ties to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which they believe compromises the survey’s integrity.
The BJP, on the other hand, seized the opportunity to attack Rahul Gandhi, claiming that the Karnataka survey disproves his allegations regarding the 2024 elections. BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra called the survey results a “reality check” for Rahul Gandhi, who had raised concerns about possible vote theft in the upcoming elections.
In July 2025, Rahul Gandhi had accused the election authorities of large-scale voter list discrepancies in the Mahadevapura constituency of Bengaluru, further fueling allegations of vote rigging in the upcoming elections. The findings of the Karnataka survey, however, directly contradict these claims.
The BJP has used the survey’s results to question Congress’ narrative on electoral fairness, while Congress continues to cast doubts on the survey’s methodology and the affiliation of the organization that conducted it.
