Kannada Actress Ranya Rao Fined ₹102 Crore in Gold Smuggling Case
Harshvardhini Ranya, professionally known as Ranya Rao, has been fined ₹102 crore by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in connection with a gold smuggling case.
According to DRI sources, co-accused:
- Tarun Kondraju has been fined ₹63 crore
- Sahil Sakaria Jain and Bharat Kumar Jain have been fined ₹56 crore each
As per PTI reports, on September 2, DRI officials visited Bengaluru Central Jail and handed over:
- A 250-page legal notice
- A 2,500-page annexure to each accused
The court had granted default bail to the accused on a ₹2 lakh bond and two sureties. Conditions included:
- Not leaving the country
- Not repeating the offense
According to official court documents, Ranya Rao’s bail petitions had been rejected multiple times:
- March 14 – Special Economic Offenses Court
- March 27 – Sessions Court
- April 26 – Karnataka High Court
