The Prime Minister posted on X;
"Today, on World Environment Day, I am very happy to launch the #Ek_Ped_Maa_Ke_Naam campaign. I urge the countrymen as well as people across the world to plant a tree in the coming days as a tribute to their mother and share a picture of themselves using #Plant4Mother or #Ek_Ped_Maa_Ke_Naam." “This morning, I planted a tree in line with our commitment to protect Mother Nature and adopt a sustainable lifestyle. I urge all of you to also contribute to improving our planet.
“You will all be very happy to know that in the last decade, India has made many collective efforts, which have led to an increase in forest cover across the country. This is very good for our endeavour towards sustainable development. It is also commendable that local communities have risen to the occasion and played a leading role in this.”
