जापान अब एक अंतरिक्ष महाशक्ति बन गया है। जापान चांद पर पहुंचने वाला 5वां देश बन गया है। 19 जनवरी को जापान का रोबोटिक स्मार्ट लैंडर फॉर इन्वेस्टिगेटिंग द मून (SLIM) सफलतापूर्वक चांद पर उतरा। जापान में 20 जनवरी की तारीख थी और आधी रात में लोग इस कामयाबी के गवाह बनना चाहते थे। जापान के लोगों ने उसी खुशी को महसूस किया, जो अगस्त 2023 में चंद्रयान-3 की लैंडिंग के बाद भारत के लोगों ने महसूस किया। जापान चांद पर पहुंच गया है, लेकिन यह मिशन पूरी तरह उम्मीद पर खरा नहीं उतरा।

जापानी स्पेस एजेंसी (JAXA) के मुताबिक अंतरिक्ष यान चंद्रमा पर सॉफ्ट लैंडिंग करने में कामयाब रहा है। SLIM चंद्रमा के शियोली क्रेटर के पास से डेटा प्राप्त कर रहा है। हालांकि अधिकारियों ने इस दौरान एक खराबी का जिक्र किया। अधिकारियों ने कहा कि लैंडर पर लगे सौर ऊर्जा सेल में खराबी देखने को मिली है। यह उम्मीद के मुताबिक बिजली नहीं बना रहे हैं। जिस कारण यह बैट्री मोड पर चल रहा है। बैट्री की अपनी क्षमता है, इस कारण यह अंतरिक्ष यान कुछ घंटे ही काम कर सकेगा। थोड़ी खुशी, थोड़े गम के साथ जापान चांद पर अंतरिक्ष यान पहुंचाने वाला पांचवां देश बन गया। जापान से पहले रूस, अमेरिका, चीन और भारत ही चांद पर पहुंचे थे। JAXA ने SLIM को बनाया है। उन्होंने इसका नाम मून स्नाइपर रखा है। यह स्पेसक्राफ्ट अब तक चांद पर भेजे गए सभी अंतरिक्ष यान से बेहद खास थे। इसका कारण था पिन पॉइंट लैंडिंग। दरअसल अभी तक अंतरिक्ष यानों को एक विशाल एरिया दिया जाता रहा है, जिसमें वह जहां चाहें, वहां उतर सकते हैं। लेकिन स्लिम को सिर्फ 100 मीटर का एरिया दिया गया, जिसमें उतरना था। यह एक बड़ी कामयाबी है।
