Jabalpur Surpasses Indore in Literacy Rates
Jabalpur Leads in Literacy Across Madhya Pradesh
In terms of literacy, the cultural capital Jabalpur has taken the top spot in Madhya Pradesh. Jabalpur has surpassed Indore and Bhopal in literacy rates. The literacy rate in Jabalpur is now 81.07%, whereas the lowest literacy rate in the state is in Alirajpur, which stands at only 36.10%.
This information was provided by the Minister of School Education, Uday Pratap Singh, in response to a written question from Ajay Singh, the MLA from Churhat. The Minister also shared that to improve the state’s literacy rate, the government is currently running the Ullaas-Nava Bharat literacy program. This program aims to provide basic literacy to individuals over the age of 15 who are illiterate.
It is important to note that the literacy rate information provided in the assembly is based on the 2011 Census data. According to this data, the population of Jabalpur is 2,463,289, of which 1,756,468 individuals are literate. However, the current population of Jabalpur has crossed 2.5 million.
