IPS Varun Kapoor Appointed as DG Jail; EOW Transfers for Mohammad Shahid Absar and Others
IPS Varun to be the New DG Jail, ADG Absar Transferred from EOW
On July 31, the Home Department transferred three Indian Police Service (IPS) officers. IPS officer Varun Kapoor, who was serving as the Additional Director General (ADG) of the Rapid Action Police Training Centre (RAPTC) in Indore, has been appointed as the Director General (DG) of Jails in Bhopal. Kapoor had been serving as the Special DG of RAPTC since June 1, 2024. Following his transfer, the charge of RAPTC Indore has been handed over to Chandra Shekhar Solanki, the IG of the Visbal Indore Range.
In addition, ADG Mohammad Shahid Absar has been transferred from the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) in Bhopal to the ADG Selection & Recruitment at the Police Headquarters. He had been working in EOW for about four and a half years. Additionally, he has been given the extra charge of ADG of PTRI and Director of the Madhya Pradesh Police Academy, Bhopal.
Meanwhile, DIG Mohammad Yusuf Qureshi has been transferred from the Cyber Cell at the Police Headquarters to the position of DIG EOW.
