IPL 2026 Mini Auction to be Held in Abu Dhabi

The Indian Premier League (IPL) fans are eagerly awaiting the auction for the next season. Although the BCCI has not officially announced the dates, reports suggest that the location and dates have been finalized.

According to a PTI report, the IPL mini-auction next month will be held outside India. This year, only a mini-auction will take place. Every three years, a mega auction is held, and last year it was conducted in Jeddah. Currently, the trading window is open for franchises to trade players. Franchises have not yet released their lists of retained and released players.

PTI reports that the IPL 2026 auction is likely to be held on December 15-16 in Abu Dhabi. BCCI officials confirmed the location to PTI. This will mark the third consecutive year that the IPL auction is held outside India. In 2023, the auction took place in Dubai. "Abu Dhabi is finalized for this year's auction," the source said.

However, there has been no official announcement from the BCCI yet. The official confirmation will come after the BCCI statement. Meanwhile, all franchises must submit their lists of retained and released players by November 15. Trades between franchises are being discussed. Notably, Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson is expected to move to Chennai Super Kings, potentially in exchange for Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran.
