Indore Honored as Wetland City at Zimbabwe Event
Indore, already known as the cleanest city in India, will now be recognized globally as a Wetland City. On Friday, this prestigious recognition was conferred in Zimbabwe. The award is based on the city’s two lakes, Yashwant Sagar and Sirpur, which were designated as Ramsar Sites in the past year.
The award ceremony was held on 25 July at Victoria Hall, Zimbabwe, where Dr. Musonda Mumba (Secretary General, Convention on Wetlands) presented the honor. Dr. Sujit Kumar Bajpayee, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, received the award on behalf of India. Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava called it an encouraging achievement for the city.
Why Indore Received This Honor
