Indonesia's Gede Priyandana Sets Record by Taking Five Wickets in One Over

Indonesia's fast bowler Gede Priyandana has made history in T20 International cricket. Priyandana took five wickets in a single over against Cambodia, making him the first bowler to achieve this feat in a T20 International match, whether in men's or women's cricket.

Notably, Priyandana took all five wickets in his first over of the match. The game between Indonesia and Cambodia was closely contested. Cambodia needed 62 runs in the last five overs with five wickets in hand. That's when Indonesia's captain handed the ball to Priyandana, who shattered Cambodia's hopes.

Priyandana took a hat-trick in the first three balls, dismissing Shah Abrar Hussain, Nirmaljeet Singh, and Chanthion Ratnannak. He then bowled a dot ball before removing Mongdara Sok. Priyandana bowled a wide ball, and then dismissed Pel Wenak to help Indonesia secure the win. Cambodia was all out for 107, and Indonesia won the match by 60 runs.

Different Story in T20 Cricket

When it comes to T20 cricket, Gede Priyandana became the third bowler to take five wickets in a single over. Before him, Amin Hussain and Abhimanyu Mithun had achieved this feat.

Hussain achieved the record in the 2013-14 Victory Day T20 Cup while playing for UCB-BCB XI against Abahani Limited. Meanwhile, Mithun took five wickets in an over during the 2019-20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy while playing for Karnataka against Haryana.

It is worth mentioning that there have been 14 instances in international cricket where a bowler took four wickets in an over. However, this is the first time a bowler has taken five wickets in a single over.
