India’s Youngest Ranji Vice-Captain: Vaibhav Suryavanshi at 14
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who has stunned world cricket with his batting at just 14 years old, has been appointed the vice-captain of Bihar's Ranji Trophy team for the first two rounds of the 2025–26 season.
Sakibul Gani will lead the Bihar team as captain, with Vaibhav serving as his deputy. Vaibhav has already made headlines by scoring centuries for India U-19 against England and Australia.
During a youth ODI series against England, he scored 355 runs in 5 matches at an average of 71.00 and a phenomenal strike rate of 174.02.
In IPL 2025, Vaibhav created history by becoming the youngest player to score a century in IPL and T20 history. Playing for Rajasthan Royals (RR), he smashed a 100 in just 35 balls against Gujarat Titans (GT).
Despite scoring only 20 and 0 in his last youth Test, he had earlier hit 113 runs in a youth Test against Australia.
Now, with the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 underway from October 15, Vaibhav hopes to continue his stellar performance and further build his cricketing reputation with Bihar.
