India's Voter Count Reaches 99.1 Crore

According to data from the Election Commission (EC), the number of voters in India has now reached 99.1 crore, up from 96.88 crore during the Lok Sabha elections last year. In a statement released ahead of National Voters Day, the Election Commission highlighted that the voter list is more youth and gender-balanced, with 21.7 crore voters between the ages of 18 and 29. The gender ratio has also seen a sixfold increase, with the number rising from 948 per 1,000 in 2024 to 954 per 1,000 in 2025.

National Voters Day is celebrated every year on January 25 to mark the foundation of the Election Commission of India in 1950. On January 7, while announcing the schedule for the Delhi Assembly elections, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajeev Kumar mentioned that India will soon set a new record with over 1 billion voters. He added that the voter list, which was released yesterday, shows India crossing the 99-crore mark. The country is poised to become a nation with over 1 billion voters, and this will be another milestone in voting records.
