India's First University for Visually Impaired to Open in Cuttack
On March 30, India will witness the inauguration of its first international university dedicated to the visually impaired in Cuttack, Odisha. A recent team visit by the central government has confirmed the selection of a 40-acre land near Barang for the establishment of the university. The government has shown interest in naming the university after the famous blind poet and 19th-century social reformer, Sant Kabir Bhima Bhoi, who was renowned in Odisha for his work in the field of social reforms.
It is noteworthy that nearly 50 million people in India suffer from visual impairments, and this university aims to provide them with better educational opportunities and empowerment.
