Shatrughan Behera, Executive Director of the Railway Board, mentioned in his order dated September 23, 2025 that all General Managers may consult with the Chairman of the RRB Bengaluru before finalizing the indent. All reservation criteria for SC, ST, OBC, and EWS categories must be strictly followed.
Demand for Guard Posts Addressed
The significant shortage of guards across Indian Railways is finally being addressed. Recently, Dainik Jagran highlighted the issue with a report titled “Goods Trains Running Without Guards in NER”. Unions like All India Guard Council and NERMU have long been pressing the Railway Ministry to resolve the staffing crisis.
2,570 Junior Engineer (JE) Posts Also Approved
In addition to NTPC vacancies, the Railway Board has approved filling 2,570 vacant Junior Engineer (JE) posts. As per the order dated September 18, selected candidates will be posted based on real-time vacancies without specifying departments during the panel submission phase. This gives field units flexibility to appoint engineers where needed most.
The hiring process for both NTPC and JE posts is expected to begin shortly via respective Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs).
