Indian Navy to Induct Two Warships on 26th August
The Indian Navy is set to induct two warships, Udaygiri and Himgiri, on 26th August at Visakhapatnam. These ships are part of Project 17A and are stealth frigates, marking a significant step in India's naval modernization and its ability to deliver warships from various shipyards.
This will be the first time that two major warships will be inducted together. Udaygiri (F35) and Himgiri (F34) will both join the navy on the same day. These warships showcase India’s growing naval capabilities and the country's increasing role in building advanced warships through its shipyards.
The two ships represent India's success in the 'Make in India' and 'Self-reliant India' initiatives in the defense sector. Himgiri, the first ship built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), is one of the stealth frigates from Project 17A. Udaygiri, the second ship, was built by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) and was delivered to the navy on July 1st. Udaygiri is also the 100th ship designed by the Navy's Warship Design Bureau.
