India Defeats Sri Lanka to Win Women's Tri-Nation ODI Series

The Indian Women's Cricket Team became champions on May 11 by defeating Sri Lanka in the final of the Tri-Nation One Day International (ODI) series. The team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, delivered a strong performance in all departments to secure the title.

This series saw India’s only loss come against Sri Lanka. Despite that, the Indian team showed consistent form, finishing at the top of the points table with three wins in four league matches. Sri Lanka secured the second spot with two victories, while South Africa ended last with just one win in four matches.

The final match held major importance for both India and Sri Lanka as a preparation step towards the upcoming Women's ODI World Cup later this year. Indian batters performed exceptionally throughout the tournament, with Jemimah Rodrigues being the standout. She scored 201 runs at an average of 67, including a century (123) against South Africa.

Other key contributors with the bat included Pratika Rawal (164 runs), Smriti Mandhana (148 runs), and Deepti Sharma (126 runs). Deepti's innings of 93 runs against South Africa proved crucial in posting a big score, showcasing the depth in India’s batting lineup.
