India raised its voice once again on Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) at the United Nations, making it clear that Pakistan’s illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir must end. During a discussion at the UN Security Council (UNSC), India emphasized that PoK has always been, is, and will remain an integral part of India.

In his statement, India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, said that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India, and Pakistan’s continued illegal occupation of its territory must end. These comments were made during an open debate on promoting compatibility in UN peacekeeping operations. Harish was specifically referring to Pakistan’s occupation of Kashmir.

“Jammu and Kashmir was, is, and will always remain an integral part of India,” said Harish, pointing out Pakistan’s illegal occupation. He further emphasized that Pakistan must vacate the region.

India’s firm response came after Pakistan raised the issue of Jammu and Kashmir during the open debate at the UNSC. Harish remarked that such repeated mentions do not validate Pakistan’s illegal claims or justify state-sponsored cross-border terrorism. He urged Pakistan not to divert the focus of the UN with its narrow, divisive agenda and warned it to refrain from further distractions.

Harish’s response followed a statement by Pakistani Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Syed Tariq Fatemi, who raised the Kashmir issue during a discussion on the future of UN peacekeeping. India reiterated that it desires normal neighborly relations with Pakistan but emphasized that such relations can only be built in an environment free of terror and hostility, which is Islamabad’s responsibility to create.
