India Registers Narrowest Test Victory by 6 Runs Against England

Under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, Team India secured a historic win in the fifth Test match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 by defeating England by just 6 runs, successfully defending a target of 374 runs. This win marks India's narrowest victory ever in Test cricket by runs.

Previously, India's smallest Test win by runs came in 2004 when they beat Australia by 13 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

On the final day of the fifth Test at The Oval, England needed just 35 more runs to win with 4 wickets in hand. But Indian bowlers turned the tide—Mohammed Siraj took three wickets and Prasidh Krishna claimed one to help India clinch a memorable 6-run victory.
