India Receives ₹69 Lakh Crore FDI in FY 2024-25, Driven by the US and Singapore

India’s foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows during the financial year 2024-25 once again relied heavily on contributions from the United States and Singapore. According to the latest report from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), these two nations accounted for more than one-third of India’s total FDI inflows during the period. Other key investors included Mauritius, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands.

On October 30, 2025, the RBI released the provisional results of its “Survey of Foreign Liabilities and Assets” for FY 2024-25. The survey covered 45,702 Indian companies, of which 41,517 had either recorded inbound FDI or made outbound direct investments (ODI).

FDI Inflows Touch ₹68.75 Lakh Crore

The report highlights that India’s total FDI reached ₹68.75 lakh crore in FY 2024-25. The United States accounted for 20% of the total, while Singapore contributed 14.3%. Other major contributors included Mauritius (13.3%), the United Kingdom (11.2%), and the Netherlands (9%). In comparison, India had received ₹61.88 lakh crore in FDI during FY 2023-24, marking a strong increase this year.

Manufacturing Sector Leads FDI Inflows

According to the RBI, the manufacturing sector remained the top destination for foreign investment, accounting for 48.4% of total FDI equity (at market value). The services sector ranked second, indicating that investors continue to show confidence in India’s industrial expansion and production capabilities.

Indian Companies Increase Overseas Investments

RBI data also showed a rise in outward direct investments (ODI) made by Indian companies. The total value reached ₹11.66 lakh crore, with Singapore contributing 22.2%, the United States 15.4%, and the United Kingdom 12.8%. Based on market value, outward investments grew by 17.9% compared to last year, while FDI inflows recorded an 11.1% increase.
