India-Oman Free Trade Agreement to be Signed in PM Modi's Presence
On the second day of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Oman, he addressed the Indian community and emphasized the respect for diversity that Indians maintain wherever they go. He also mentioned that the economic partnership agreement between India and Oman would take their bilateral relations to new heights.
India-Oman Business Forum Address
During his address at the India-Oman Business Forum, PM Modi stated that the new agreement would bring a new direction and momentum to the partnership between the two countries. He added that the maritime trade route between Mandvi and Muscat had played a key role in strengthening their relationship. "The waves of the sea may change, the seasons may shift, but the friendship between India and Oman remains strong through every season," he remarked.
Modi's Vision for Stronger Bilateral Trade
PM Modi described the relationship between India and Oman as being built on trust, which has deepened over time. He stated that the Free Trade Agreement would provide a new energy and confidence to their partnership, boosting trade and investment. Modi also highlighted how over the past 11 years, India has changed its economic policies and transformed its economic DNA, with GST and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code playing key roles in boosting investor confidence.
Respecting Diversity and Cultural Ties
PM Modi addressed the Indian community in Muscat, saying that India’s cultural diversity is a strong foundation of its heritage, and wherever Indians go, they respect the local culture. He also spoke about the global recognition of Diwali, which was recently added to UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list, symbolizing hope, harmony, and humanity.
Strengthening India-Oman Relations
Prime Minister Modi also celebrated the 'Maitri Parv' (Friendship Festival) between India and Oman, highlighting the values of Maritime Heritage, Aspiration, Innovation, Trust, Technology, Respect, and Inclusive Growth. These values strengthen the partnership and shared cultural heritage between the two nations.
India's Economic Growth and Achievements
PM Modi remarked on the rapid economic growth of India, which continues to be one of the fastest-growing economies in the world. He mentioned the increase in the number of IITs, IIMs, and AIIMS during his tenure. He also referenced India's achievements in space exploration, including the recent missions to the Moon and the South Pole, and announced that India would soon have its own space station.
