India Likely to Sign Trade Agreements with 4-6 Countries in 2026
The year 2026 is expected to be a significant year for free trade agreements (FTAs) in India. India is likely to enter into FTAs with the European Union and New Zealand. Negotiations with Peru have already completed nine phases, while four phases of talks with Chile have been concluded. Recently, trade talks with Canada have been reinitiated, and six rounds of talks with the United States have been completed. A trade agreement with the US could be signed in the upcoming year, with the first phase of negotiations expected to conclude soon.
The government is working diligently to secure beneficial trade agreements with these nations to enhance economic growth, improve trade relations, and access new markets. These FTAs will open up new opportunities for India’s businesses and industries, enabling them to expand globally and enhance their competitive edge.
With the European Union, New Zealand, Peru, Chile, Canada, and the USA, India aims to establish a robust and mutually beneficial trade framework that will contribute to its global economic standing. These agreements are expected to strengthen India's position as a key player in the international trade landscape.
