India Launches First AI-powered Handheld ECG Device; UPI Crosses 20 Billion Transactions

AI-powered ECG Device Introduced in India

UPI Crosses 20 Billion Transactions in August

According to a post by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on X, the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) recorded a historic 20 billion transactions in August 2025 — a 34% increase compared to the same period last year.

This is the first time in history that UPI has crossed the 20 billion mark. Previously, the highest number of transactions recorded was in July at 19.47 billion. This rapid growth further cements UPI’s dominance in India’s digital payments ecosystem.
