India and Australia Sign 3 Key Agreements During Rajnath Singh's Visit
On October 9, Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the Royal Australian Navy base HMAS Kuttabul in Sydney. He was accompanied by Australia's Assistant Defence Minister Peter Khalil. During the visit, the two leaders held a bilateral meeting focused on strengthening defence cooperation, technological collaboration, and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
This marks the first visit by an Indian Defence Minister to Australia in 12 years. Peter Khalil described the visit as historic and highly significant. He expressed hope that such high-level visits will happen more frequently in the future, instead of after such long gaps.
Rajnath Singh, in turn, emphasized the growing and strategic relationship between India and Australia. The two sides signed three important agreements aimed at deepening defence ties, enhancing joint capabilities, and supporting regional security.
The visit underlines the commitment of both nations to work together in key areas including maritime security, defence manufacturing, and regional peace, especially within the broader Indo-Pacific framework.
