BJP, which was elated after the exit polls, got another big success the next morning i.e. on June 2. The party returned to power for the third time in a row in Arunachal Pradesh and got a huge majority by winning 46 seats in the 60-member assembly . Congress was reduced to just one seat.
On the other hand, in Sikkim, the public expressed immense love for Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang alias Gole and gave his party Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) victory on 31 out of 32 seats. Tamang will become the Chief Minister of Sikkim for the second time in a row.
On June 2, the counting of votes for the assemblies of these two hill states was completed. Tamang is an old ally of BJP. After the victory, he said that he will remain an ally of NDA. Voting for 50 out of 60 assembly seats of Arunachal Pradesh was held on April 19 along with the Lok Sabha elections, while BJP had already won 10 seats unopposed.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu is also one of the candidates who won unopposed. In Arunachal Pradesh, the National People's Party (NPP) got five seats, while the People's Party of Arunachal won two and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) won three seats. Congress won one seat and independent candidates won three seats.
The BJP had won 41 seats in the 2019 assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh. The vote percentage of the BJP was 54.57. On the other hand, Tamang's party SKM won 31 out of 32 assembly seats in Sikkim. In the storm of SKM, the dreams of Pawan Chamling's Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) were shattered and former footballer Baichung Bhutia, who was supporting him, also had to face his sixth consecutive defeat.
The only candidate of his party, Tenzin Lamtha, won the Syari assembly seat by 1314 votes. The BJP, which was contesting alone in the state, remained empty-handed. Pawan Chamling, who was once the Chief Minister of Sikkim for a record time, contested from two seats, Poklok Kamrang in Namchi and Namchebun in Pakyong, and could not win anywhere. Tamang's party had won 17 seats last time.
This time Tamang himself was a candidate from two seats, Soreng-Chayakhung and Rinak, and won from both the places. His wife Krishna Kumari Rai has also won the election. After the big victory, Tamang said that SKM will remain a partner of NDA at the center. They will work for a golden and prosperous Sikkim. He said that NDA government will be formed at the center with 400 seats.
