ICC Confirms Bangladesh to Play T20 World Cup 2026 Matches in India

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has rejected Bangladesh’s request to move their T20 World Cup matches out of India due to security concerns. ICC stated that there is no significant threat to the Bangladeshi team in India.

This clarification came after Asif Nazrul, advisor to Bangladesh’s Ministry of Sports, claimed that ICC’s security team validated Dhaka’s concerns, warning of potential risks to Bangladeshi players and fans in India. Bangladesh is scheduled to play four T20 World Cup 2026 matches in India.

An ICC source, speaking anonymously, said that their independent security assessment found no major threats that would justify relocating Bangladesh’s matches outside India. The risk level was assessed as “low to moderate,” which is considered normal for major international sporting events. The ICC confirmed that sufficient security arrangements are being made to ensure that all players can participate without fear.

Previously, Asif Nazrul claimed that the presence of fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman or fans wearing team jerseys could increase risks. Based on these concerns, Bangladesh requested ICC to move their matches out of India. However, ICC sources clarified that parts of the security report were selectively presented and misinterpreted by Nazrul.

With these measures in place, Bangladesh’s team and supporters are expected to safely participate in all scheduled matches in India during the T20 World Cup 2026.
