बांग्लादेश की प्रधानमंत्री शेख हसीना ने 8 जनवरी को मीडिया को संबोधित किया। 7 जनवरी को आम चुनाव में 5वीं बार पीएम चुनी गईं। उनकी पार्टी आवामी लीग ने 300 में से 223 सीटें जीती हैं। एक उम्मीदवार की मौत के कारण 299 सीटों के लिए इलेक्शन हुआ था। खालिदा जिया के नेतृत्व वाले विपक्षी दल बांग्लादेश नेशनलिस्ट पार्टी और उसके सहयोगियों ने इलेक्शन का बहिष्कार किया।

प्रधानमंत्री शेख हसीना ने अपनी जीत के बाद संबोधित करते हुए कहा कि भारत बांग्लादेश का अच्छा दोस्त है। उन्होंने 1971 और 1975 में हमे सपोर्ट किया। हम भारत को अपना पड़ोसी मानते हैं। उन्होंने कहा, भारत के साथ हमारे अद्भुत रिश्ते हैं। अगले 5 सालों में हमारा ध्यान आर्थिक प्रगति की तरफ है।

उन्होंने कहा कि जो लोग आतंकवादी संगठनों से संबंध रखते हैं या अवैध गतिविधियों में लगे हैं। वे इलेक्शन से डरते हैं और लड़ने से बचते हैं। हसीना ने कहा, 'वे लोगों की जीत में योगदान देते है मेरी नहीं। मुझे खुशी है कि हम स्वतंत्र और निष्पक्ष चुनाव कर सके'

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina addressed the media on 8 January. Elected PM for the 5th time in the general elections on 7 January. His party Awami League has won 223 seats out of 300. Elections for 299 seats were held due to the death of one candidate. Khaleda Zia-led opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party and its allies boycotted the election. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, while addressing after her victory, said that India is a good friend of Bangladesh. He supported us in 1971 and 1975. We consider India as our neighbour. He said, we have wonderful relations with India. Our focus in the next 5 years is towards economic progress. we can have free and fair elections He said that those who belong to terrorist organizations or are engaged in illegal activities. They are afraid of elections and avoid fighting. Hasina said, 'They contribute to the people's victory, not mine. I am happy that we could have free and fair elections'
