सरकार को भारत के साथ भूमि सीमा साझा करने वाले देशों से अप्रैल, 2020 से 3 दिसंबर 2023 तक लगभग एक लाख करोड़ रुपये के प्रत्यक्ष विदेशी निवेश (एफडीआई) प्रस्ताव मिले हैं।

एक शीर्ष अधिकारी ने यह जानकारी देते हुए कहा कि इनमें से करीब आधे प्रस्तावों को मंजूरी दे दी गई है। बाकी निवेश प्रस्ताव या तो लंबित हैं या उन्हें वापस ले लिया गया है या अस्वीकार कर दिया गया है। सरकार ने अप्रैल, 2020 में भारत के साथ भूमि सीमा साझा करने वाले देशों से विदेशी निवेश के लिए पूर्व-मंजूरी को अनिवार्य कर दिया था। कोविड-19 महामारी के बाद घरेलू कंपनियों के अवसरवादी अधिग्रहण को रोकने के लिए ऐसा किया गया। इस फैसले के अनुसार किसी भी क्षेत्र में निवेश के लिए पड़ोसी देशों से आने वाले एफडीआई प्रस्तावों पर पहले सरकार की मंजूरी लेनी जरूरी है।
