यूनेस्को की सूची में ग्वालियर ‘म्यूजिक सिटी’ के रूप में शामिल
यूनेस्को ने 31 अक्टूबर को अपने क्रिएटिव सिटीज नेटवर्क (UCCN) की नवीनतम सूची की घोषणा की है। जिसमें दुनियाभर के 55 नए शहरों में मध्यप्रदेश के ग्वालियर को ‘म्यूजिक सिटी’ (संगीत नगर) के रूप में शामिल किया है। अपनी सदियों पुरानी संगीत पंरपरा के चलते दुनिया भर में विख्यात ग्वालियर अब प्रतिष्ठित यूनेस्को क्रिएटिव सिटीज नेटवर्क में शामिल हो गया है। परियोजना का नेतृत्व मध्य प्रदेश टूरिज्म बोर्ड ने ग्वालियर नगर निगम, ग्वालियर स्मार्ट सिटी डेवलपमेंट कॉर्पोरेशन लिमिटेड, राजा मानसिंह तोमर संगीत और कला विश्वविद्यालय, संगीत कलाकारों और अन्य हितधारकों के सहयोग से किया था।
यूनेस्को से मिले दर्जे के बाद संगीत के क्षेत्र में सिरमौर ग्वालियर की पहचान में चार चांद लग गए हैं। सुर, लय और ताल से समृद्ध शहर के संगीत का इतिहास बादशाह अकबर से लेकर सिंधिया राजघराने तक का रहा है। यहां जन्मे सुर सम्राट तानसेन अपनी संगीत कला के बलबूते अकबर के नवरत्नों में शामिल थे, तो वहीं पद्म पुरस्कारों से सम्मानित सरोद वादक उस्ताद अमजद अली खान के पिता हाफिज अली खां ग्वालियर राजदरबार के प्रसिद्ध संगीतज्ञ थे। वहीं ध्रुपद गायकी के जनक राजा मानसिंह के बाद पं. कृष्णराव पंडित, मीता पंडित से लेकर वर्तमान में अभिजीत सुखदाणे सहित कई कलाकार इस विरासत को आगे बढ़ा रहे हैं। वहीं शहर से निकले कई कलाकार अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर भी संगीतधानी का मान बढ़ा रहे हैं।
UNESCO announced its latest list of Creative Cities on October 31, which included Gwalior, a city in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, as a "Music City" in recognition of its centuries-old musical tradition. Gwalior, known worldwide for its rich musical heritage, has now become a prestigious member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN).The project was led by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, in collaboration with the Gwalior Municipal Corporation, Gwalior Smart City Development Corporation Limited, Raja Mansingh Tomar Music and Arts University, music artists, and other stakeholders.
This UNESCO designation has added a significant feather in the cap of Gwalior's music scene, recognizing its contribution to the world of music. The city's musical history is rich and dates back to the time of Emperor Akbar and the Scindia royal family. Notable musicians like Tansen, who was part of Akbar's court, and the renowned sarod player Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, whose father Hafiz Ali Khan was a famous musician in the Gwalior royal court, have deep-rooted connections to Gwalior.
Gwalior is also known for its contribution to Dhrupad singing, with musicians like Pandit Krishnarao Pandit, Meeta Pandit, and the current artist Abhijeet Sukhdane carrying forward this legacy. The city has produced many artists who have gained international recognition in the world of music.
This recognition by UNESCO further cements Gwalior's reputation as a city with a rich musical heritage, and it will likely lead to increased global awareness of the city's musical traditions.
