Gurpreet Wins Gold, Amanpreet Takes Silver at Asian Shooting Championship 2025

At the 16th Asian Shooting Championship held in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, India's Rio Olympian Gurpreet Singh won the gold medal in the 25-meter Standard Pistol event. Fellow Indian shooter Amanpreet Singh secured the silver medal in the same event. Both shooters, along with Harsh Gupta, also clinched the team gold with a combined score of 1709.

This victory pushed India’s overall medal tally in the championship to 82, including 44 gold, 20 silver, and 18 bronze medals.

Gurpreet Singh Wins First International Gold

37-year-old Gurpreet Singh secured his first-ever international gold medal in his career. He had previously won a bronze in the same event at the Asian Championship held in Tehran 12 years ago. Both Gurpreet and Amanpreet scored 572 points, but Gurpreet had 18 inner-circle shots compared to Amanpreet’s 11, giving him the edge for the gold.

China’s Su Lianbofan took home the bronze medal in this event.

India Bags Three Medals in Junior 25m Standard Pistol

In the junior category of the 25-meter Standard Pistol event, India won three medals. Suraj Sharma claimed silver with a score of 571, and Tanishq Naidu won bronze with a score of 568. Along with Mukesh Neelavalli, they secured the junior team gold with a combined score of 1703.

Junior Team Wins Gold in 50m Rifle Prone

In the 50-meter Rifle Prone event, although India did not win any individual medals, the junior team comprising Sami Ullah Khan, Adrian Karmakar, and Kushagra Singh Rajawat delivered an excellent performance to win the team gold with a combined score of 1844.3.
