Gukesh Becomes India's Top-Ranked Chess Player
In the latest FIDE rankings, Gukesh has reached the 4th position with 2784 rating points, making him India's highest-ranked chess player. Recently awarded the prestigious Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna, Gukesh surpassed Arjun Erigaisi, who dropped to 5th place with 2779.5 rating points. Norway’s Magnus Carlsen remains the world number one with 2832.5 points.
Gukesh achieved another milestone after defeating Germany's Vincent Keymer in the ongoing Tata Steel Chess Tournament in Wijk aan Zee, Netherlands. With this win, Gukesh became India's highest-ranked chess player, overtaking Arjun Erigaisi.
In the recent FIDE rankings released on Thursday, Gukesh is now in 4th place with 2784 rating points. Meanwhile, Erigaisi slipped to 5th place with 2779.5 rating points. Magnus Carlsen of Norway continues to hold the top position in the world with 2832.5 rating points.
