From Tomorrow, Only Aadhaar Linked Users Can Book Train Tickets for First 15 Minutes on IRCTC
From October 1, e-Aadhaar verification will be mandatory for booking general reservation tickets on IRCTC, similar to tatkal ticket booking. Indian Railways announced this new rule on September 14.
According to the Ministry of Railways, during the first 15 minutes after the general reservation opens on the IRCTC website or app, only users with Aadhaar linked accounts will be able to book tickets using Aadhaar OTP. This measure aims to prevent fake IDs, ticket scalping by agents, and bot bookings.
If your IRCTC account is already linked with Aadhaar, booking will be easier, waiting lists will reduce, and tickets will get confirmed faster.
The existing schedule for booking general reservation tickets at computerized PRS counters will remain unchanged. Additionally, the 10-minute booking restriction for authorized railway ticketing agents on the first day will continue without any changes.
