On 24th February, preparations are underway for the establishment of a solar park in Morena, Madhya Pradesh. This will be the state's first solar park that promises continuous electricity supply from 6 AM to 8 PM, generating 17.60 lakh units of power. Unlike regular solar parks, which typically operate for 5-6 hours a day, this park will provide electricity for a longer period.

Unique Features of Morena Solar Park

The tender process for the solar park is expected to be completed by May. During peak hours (6 AM to 8 AM and 6 PM to 10 PM), electricity consumption is high, and the power generated at Morena Solar Park will be supplied to MP's electricity companies at a lower rate (approximately ₹3.5 per unit).

Morena Solar Park's electricity supply will be fixed and available during specific hours, unlike the current solar plants in the state. The electricity generated will be stored in batteries during peak sunlight and supplied from stored energy during less intense sunlight hours.

Power Generation and Supply Calculations

A 1-kilowatt solar plant generates at least 4 units of electricity daily. Over a month (30 days), this amounts to 120 units, and over a year, it generates a minimum of 1460 units. A 1-megawatt solar plant generates around 4000 units of electricity daily. A 440-megawatt solar park will generate at least 17.60 lakh units of electricity daily.

The total capacity of the solar park (in the first phase) will be 600 MW. Of this, 440 MW will supply fixed electricity, while the remaining 160 MW will charge batteries. The stored energy will then be supplied to the electricity companies.

Expected Completion and Costs

The tender process for the first phase of the Morena Solar Park is expected to be completed by May, with an estimated cost of ₹3600 crore. The goal is to provide 440 MW of fixed electricity supply using batteries charged with the solar park's generated power. The overall capacity of the project will be 1400 MW.
