EPFO 3.0 to Make PF Accounts as Easy as Bank Accounts in 2025
Using an EPFO account is currently quite difficult and not very user-friendly. To address this, the government is preparing to launch EPFO 3.0. This new system will make the use of PF accounts as easy as mobile banking. EPFO account holders will be able to withdraw money using ATMs, and they will also get mobile banking-like app features along with EPFO ATM cards.
What is EPFO 3.0?
In 2025, the Employee Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), which is the largest social security scheme for private sector employees, will make it possible for members to manage their EPFO accounts just like bank accounts. The third phase of EPFO reforms, known as EPFO 3.0, will make these accounts more convenient for use, similar to banking transactions.
Key Features of EPFO 3.0
- EPFO members will have the option to manage their accounts through a mobile app, just like mobile banking.
- ATM cards will be issued to members for easy withdrawals.
- The EPFO system will become centralized, ensuring that account details and transactions are easier to access.
- Members will receive real-time information on their EPF contributions, pension funds, and other important account details.
Current Reforms: EPFO 2.0
Before the launch of EPFO 3.0, the government is implementing EPFO 2.0 reforms. The goal of these reforms is to address the issues and complaints associated with EPFO accounts, such as the difficulty in accessing information, and to provide easy access to important account details with just a click.
Progress and Timeline for EPFO 3.0
The Ministry of Labour expects that the implementation of EPFO 2.0 reforms will be completed by January-February 2025. These reforms are critical to the successful launch of EPFO 3.0, which is expected to be implemented by June-July 2025. With the new system in place, EPFO accounts will be integrated with core banking systems, ensuring seamless transactions and easy access for the members.
EPFO 3.0 will aim to revolutionize the way members interact with their PF accounts, offering them greater convenience and accessibility. With the successful execution of these reforms, members will have a far easier time managing their financial records and withdrawals, just like a regular bank account.
