EPF Members Can Now Withdraw 100% of Their Balance
The top decision-making body of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has approved major changes in EPF withdrawal rules. Members can now withdraw up to 100% of their EPF account balance.
Previously, there were restrictions on partial withdrawals and members were allowed to make only three partial withdrawals. That limitation has now been removed. In addition, 13 complex provisions for withdrawals have been simplified into just three categories.
This reform is expected to benefit over 7 crore EPFO members across India. Members can now access their funds more easily without unnecessary hurdles. They can withdraw 100% of their balance, leaving only the required minimum balance in the account.
The new partial withdrawal categories now include:
- Medical, education, and marriage needs
- Housing purposes
- Special circumstances (emergencies)
All previous complex conditions have been consolidated into these simplified criteria, making it easier for EPF members to access their funds as per their requirements.
