पांच राज्यों में चुनाव के मद्देनजर बेरोजगारी प्रमुख मुद्दा बना हुआ है। एसबीआई रिसर्च टीम जिसने हाल के वर्षों में वर्तमान आर्थिक स्थिति पर कई रिपोर्ट प्रकाशित की है ने 14 नवंबर को देश में बेरोजगारी की स्थिति का आकलन जारी किया है। इस रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक देश में रोजगार के अवसर काफी बढ़े हैं और कम से कम पिछले छह वित्तीय वर्षों में बेरोजगारी कम हुई है। पांच राज्यों में चुनाव शुरू हो चुके हैं और इन राज्यों में रोजगार के अवसरों की उपलब्धता या बेरोजगारी की स्थिति एक अहम मुद्दा बना हुआ है। ऐसे में हाल के वर्षों में सम-सामयिक आर्थिक हालात पर एक के बाद एक कई रिपोर्ट जारी करने वाला एसबीआई की शोध टीम ने देश में बेरोजगारी की स्थिति पर अपना आकलन 14 नवंबर को जारी किया है।

पिछले 6 साल में बढ़े रोजगार के अवसर इस रिपोर्ट का लब्बोलुआब यह है कि कम से कम पिछले छह वित्त वर्षों में देश में रोजगार के अवसरों में काफी वृद्धि हुई है और बेरोजगारी कम हुई है। इसके लिए एसबीआई की शोध टीम ने सरकारी एजेंसी एनएसएसओ की तरफ से आवर्ती श्रम बल सर्वेक्षण (पीएलएफएस) को आधार बनाया है और इसकी अपने तरीके से समीक्षा की है।

घट रही है बरोजगारी दर पीएलएफएस का कहना है कि वित्त वर्ष 2018 में बेरोजगारी की दर 6.1 फीसद थी जो वर्ष 2023 में घट कर 3.2 फीसद हो गई है। हालांकि कई राजनेताओं ने और कुछ अर्थविदों ने इस पर सवाल उठाया है। खास तौर पर युवा वर्ग के बीच रोजगार की स्थिति और स्वरोजगार के बढ़ते अवसरों को लेकर बताया गया है कि इससे देश में संगठित क्षेत्र में रोजगार के अवसरों में कमी का पता चलता है। इस पर एसबीआई की रिपोर्ट कहती है कि इस तरह की आपत्तियां तथ्यात्मक नहीं है। पीएलएफएस की रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक वित्त वर्ष 2018 में कुल रोजगार में स्वरोजगार की हिस्सेदारी 52.2 फीसद थी जो वर्ष 2023 में बढ़ कर 57.3 फीसद हो गई है।
