DRDO Successfully Tests Pralay Missile
According to the Ministry of Defence, two Pralay missiles were launched from a single launcher near the coast of Odisha on December 31. This flight test was conducted as part of the User Evaluation Trials. Both missiles followed the prescribed trajectory precisely and successfully achieved all flight objectives.
During the test, strict monitoring was conducted on the missile's flight. Tracking sensors deployed at the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur confirmed the entire trajectory. Additionally, telemetry systems on ships stationed near the target area successfully recorded the final phase of the missile's flight.
The Pralay missile is an indigenous, solid-fuel-powered quasi-ballistic missile, equipped with advanced guidance and navigation systems, making it highly precise. The missile is capable of carrying various types of warheads and can strike a wide range of targets, enhancing its versatility and effectiveness.
The missile's development was led by the Research Centre Imarat located in Hyderabad, with support from various DRDO labs and Indian industries. Bharat Dynamics Limited and Bharat Electronics Limited collaborated as development-cum-production partners for system integration.
The test was observed by senior scientists from DRDO, along with representatives from the Indian Air Force and Indian Army.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, the Indian Army, the Indian Air Force, and Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) on this successful salvo launch. He stated that this achievement demonstrates the missile system's reliability. The DRDO Chief mentioned that this success paves the way for the imminent induction of the Pralay missile into the Indian Army.
