Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully completed three flight tests of 4th Generation technologically advanced Small Size Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADs) at Pokhran Field Firing Range, Rajasthan on 3rd and 4th October, 2024. These tests were conducted on high speed targets, demonstrating very critical parameters of maximum range and maximum altitude interception. These development trials demonstrated the repeatability of hit-to-kill capability of the weapon system in various target scenarios, including approaching, receding and crossing modes. In these trials, missiles procured through DCPP have been successfully used, paving the way for initial user trials and production in a short time in line with the vision of 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' of the Government led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh has congratulated DRDO, Armed Forces and Industry involved in the successful development trials. He said that this new missile equipped with modern technologies will give further technological boost to the armed forces against aerial threats.
