Delhi Budget: Sheesh Mahal to Become a Tourist Destination
On March 25, Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta made significant allocations in her first budget for health, education, tourism, and the development of slum areas. During the announcement, she also took a sharp jab at former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's government, holding them accountable for the current state of Delhi. In her budget speech, she mentioned Sheesh Mahal, the Chief Minister’s residence, and teased the opposition Aam Aadmi Party leaders saying they need not worry as Sheesh Mahal would be included in the tourism sector.
She went on to criticize Arvind Kejriwal while stating that the Chief Minister's residence, known as Sheesh Mahal, could be converted into a tourist center. On March 25, Tuesday, Chief Minister and Finance Minister Rekha Gupta made an important announcement in Budget 2025-26. She mentioned that Sheesh Mahal will be included in tourism, and tickets will be sold for entry.
While talking about tourism, she emphasized that her government aims to promote Delhi on both national and international levels. She stated, "We need to preserve and empower our heritage," and added that the budget allocation for tourism-related plans has been doubled compared to the previous year, with 117 crore rupees set aside for this purpose.
