Deepika Padukone Appointed India’s First Mental Health Ambassador
On October 12, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare appointed Bollywood actress and founder of the Live Love Laugh Foundation, Deepika Padukone, as India’s first Mental Health Ambassador.
Her organization will collaborate with the ministry to improve and support mental health awareness and systems across the country.
Just two days prior to the announcement, Deepika met with Union Health Minister JP Nadda in New Delhi to discuss mental health initiatives and partnerships.
Minister JP Nadda stated that this partnership with Deepika Padukone will help in raising awareness around mental health issues in India, encouraging open discussions, and highlighting the importance of mental health as an integral part of public health.
