भारतीय मौसम विभाग ने उत्तरी तमिलनाडु, पुडुचेरी और आंध्रप्रदेश के कुछ हिस्सों में 4 दिसंबर को भारी बारिश की चेतावनी जारी की है। मौसम विभाग के मुताबिक, बंगाल की खाड़ी के ऊपर बना चक्रवाती तूफान 'माइचोंग' तमिलनाडु तट के करीब पहुंच चुका है। इस दौरान यहां 100 किलोमीटर प्रति घंटे की रफ्तार से हवा चलने की आशंका है। मौसम विभाग ने आशंका जताई है कि चक्रवाती तूफान नेल्लोर और मछलीपट्टनम के बीच टकरा सकता है। चक्रवात 'माइचोंग' के मद्देनजर 4 दिसंबर को पुडुचेरी, कराईकल और यनम क्षेत्र में स्कूल व कॉलेज की छुट्टी घोषित कर दी गई है।
