CP Radhakrishnan Files Nomination for Vice President Post
CP Radhakrishnan, the NDA's candidate for the Vice President of India, has officially filed his nomination. Prime Minister Narendra Modi submitted the nomination papers to Rajya Sabha Secretary General PC Mody.
PM Modi was the primary proposer, accompanied by Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP President JP Nadda, and other senior NDA leaders.
Radhakrishnan's name was finalized during the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting on August 17, and JP Nadda announced the nomination in a press conference.
He will be contesting against the opposition alliance’s candidate, retired Supreme Court Justice B Sudarshan Reddy, who filed his nomination on August 21. Notably, both candidates hail from South India.

This election was necessitated due to the sudden resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on the night of July 21. Dhankhar, aged 74, was scheduled to serve until August 10, 2027.
