The shine of chemistry in basic science i.e. traditional science has increased further after Covid-19 . Chemistry has an important contribution in the rapid increase in the production of medical resources after the Corona period. The importance of chemistry has increased further in India after Covid-19. There is no doubt that whether it is America or Japan , if applied science progressed there, then a strong foundation of basic science was laid first , only then work started in the field of applied science. India's progress also rests on the strong foundation of basic science. Whatever work is being done in applied science or interdisciplinary science today , there is definitely a strong foundation of basic science somewhere in it. In this form, basic science like chemistry also has an important role. Chemistry is also the basis of our country's progress somewhere. Be it the matter of chemicals related to agriculture or the use of new medicines in the field of medicine , all have been developed by experts of chemistry somewhere. Today chemistry is needed in everything from petrol related products to the world of the Internet.
It is worth noting that chemistry is the central field of science. On one hand, it is a field of physics. Chemistry is a broad subject. It is related to both microscopic and macroscopic properties. It is related to all types of materials , organic , inorganic , biological and all types of changing processes and transformations etc. Whatever we get , we get it through chemical processes. All the medicines are made from chemicals . In this way , chemicals are used in most of the cosmetics also. Today, the influence of this subject can be seen in every field. At present, the market is full of consumer goods. Whether it is clothes or shoes , various types of patents or medicine manufacturing work , the need of chemistry is seen everywhere. It is also in demand in building construction works. If seen, today most of the industries are providing employment opportunities to students related to chemistry in different forms. Sometimes as a researcher , sometimes as a chemist and sometimes for lab work.
Various Areas of MSc after BSc in Chemistry
After doing BSc in Chemistry, you can do MSc in Biotechnology , Bioinformatics , Nanotechnology , Material Science and Food Technology etc. apart from Chemistry . After doing BSc in Chemistry, you can do MSc in Analytical , Applied , Organic , Inorganic , Industrial , Environmental , Medicinal , Pesticide and Agrochemical , Pharmacological , Physical , Polymer , Sugar , Dairy or Textile Chemistry. In today's job market, there is a need for researchers who are trained in chemical analysis instrumentation . Research in atomic energy can be done from Atomic Research Centre, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research , IISc , Bangalore. There is a huge need of manpower for the current expansion of atomic energy and nuclear energy. Apart from this, you can also go abroad for higher studies with fellowship. Students wishing to study abroad must keep in mind that to get admission there they have to pass the GRE and TOEFL tests.
Multifaceted career opportunities in Chemistry
After doing post graduation in chemistry, the biggest way of employment is to work as a chemist. Chemists are needed in pharmaceutical companies, food industry , beverages , wine , textile , pesticide and other private companies. As a chemist, you can also find a career in the work related to printing notes in RBI. National Bureau of Standards , Archaeological Survey Department also provide opportunities to experts in chemistry. Chemistry students have many opportunities to work in different types of labs. For example, Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has labs all over the country. If you have MSc or PhD in Chemistry, then you can become a scientist. Otherwise, after doing BSc in Chemistry, you can work as a scientific assistant or officer. There is a huge demand for chemistry experts in institutions like Bhabha Atomic Research Center , National Thermal Power Corporation , ONGC , GAIL. CSIR has more than 70 labs in the country , where women in chemistry get employment opportunities.
Today, whether it is pharmaceutical companies or cosmetic , beverages , drugs , leather , polymer , soap etc. industries , the business of all these is completely connected with chemistry. Various experiments are being done in the country regarding chemicals and different employment opportunities are also coming up in this. In such a situation, it is important that you have a basic understanding of chemistry. This basic understanding is developed by the course of BSc with Chemistry. Only after doing this, you can climb different steps in career. If you want to get a job quickly, then you can improve your career by doing BSc. If you do post graduation and research in chemistry, then there are many bright employment opportunities after that. These include teaching , research , pharmaceutical companies , analytical test house , medical representative , educational field , chemical industry , and small scale industries, etc. , where students get direct employment opportunities. Today there is a talk of environment friendly chemistry. Green chemistry is becoming popular for working in this field. The situation is similar with biochemistry , where one can take their career to greater heights by acquiring expertise. Those who have expertise in chemistry can also work in management and marketing and production in many industries like pharmaceutical , plastics , polymers , petrochemical , forestry , food processing etc.
Career Skills in Chemistry
While studying chemistry, it is important to keep in mind that your skills are tested in industry or any institution , therefore you should develop your skills in chemistry while working in a laboratory. You should be proficient in chemical analysis i.e. analytical chemistry. You should acquire new information from books and develop scientific temperament .
